OTTAWA, Canada – On Saturday Poland’s Krzysztof Jotko dropped Tamdan McCrory with a big left hook little less than a minute into their middleweight scrap to earn a “Performance of the Night” bonus and his fourth consecutive UFC win.

Speaking to reporters after what turned out to be UFC Fight Night 89’s fastest finish, Jotko (18-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) admitted that, based on McCrory’s (14-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) credentials, he expected a longer scrap.

“I know that he’s a good fighter, very experienced,” Jotko said, at the time, unaware he would be awarded a $50,000 fight-fight bonus. “He’s a very good grappler. And I thought it would be a little bit (longer), maybe second round.”

The middleweight bout was part of the preliminary card of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 89 event at The Arena at TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It aired on FOX Sports 2 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1.

As far as the immediate future goes, Jotko plans to take time to rest after two back-to-back octagon commitments. Prior to McCroy, he’d defeated Bradley Scott at UFC Fight Night 84 in February.

Asked about a possible top-15 opponent next, Jotko left it up to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva. But, with three European UFC titleholders as inspiration, the rising Polish star has some bigger longterm plans.

“MMA in Europe and Poland is very popular now,” Jotko said. “It started early in the United States, but now in Poland and Europe, it’s (becoming) more and more. Many people to train hard, and now we have three champions in the UFC, and I think I will be the fourth in the future.”
